Science and the Big Challenges

The earlier modules built the tools of scientific thinking and explored the big ideas and frontiers of science. This module puts those tools to work on the defining challenges of our time — climate, disease, food, and technology — where solid science meets real trade-offs and genuine value debates.

You will learn to separate what science can settle from what society must decide, apply scientific thinking to climate and energy, disease and pandemics, food and biotechnology, and AI, and reason wisely when decisions must be made before the science is complete.

This module is educational and deliberately non-partisan: it presents the evidence and the debates fairly rather than advocating particular policies.
