Discount & sale price calculator

Enter an original price and a discount percentage to see the sale price and exactly how much you save — instantly, as you type.

The discount is a percentage of the original price: multiply the price by the percent and divide by 100 to get the saving, then subtract it for the sale price.

The percentage behind every sale

A discount is just a percentage of the price. Working out the saving and comparing deals is one of the most useful everyday uses of percentages — the same skill behind tips, taxes, and interest.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate a discount?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the saving, then subtract it from the price. A 25% discount on $80 is 80 × 25 ÷ 100 = $20 off, for a $60 sale price. This tool does it as you type.
How do I work out the percentage off in my head?
For 10%, move the decimal one place ($80 → $8). Build others from that: 20% is double 10%, 25% is a quarter of the price, 50% is half. These shortcuts get you close without any device.
Does this include sales tax?
No — it shows the pre-tax sale price and saving. Any sales tax is added afterward on the discounted price, so your final total may be a little higher depending on your local tax.
Is it free and private?
Yes — nothing is stored and there’s no sign-up. It all runs in your browser.
